The Chamber of Deputies approved two key measures for the circular economy and the recovery of critical raw materials .

  1. The first provides for the free collection of WEEE at points of sale , mandatory in the “one-for-one” mode and optional in the “one-for-zero” mode, and in a simplified manner, to facilitate the recovery of valuable resources from electronic waste;
  2. The second extends producers' responsibility to online purchases , again simplifying and involving online platforms, to strengthen waste separation and recycling , with funds allocated to information campaigns and infrastructure.

The Deputy Minister for the Environment and Energy Security , Vannia Gava , clarified the scope of the parliamentary intervention in a commentary explaining what will change.

A new glimmer of hope has opened up for operators in the electrical and electronic waste ( WEEE) sector, who were awaiting regulatory clarification from the government.
