Repealed category 3a
Law No. 166 of November 14, 2024 stipulates that as of November 15, stakeholders will manage their fulfillments through the portal of the WEEE Coordination Center.
On November 14, 2024, Law No. 166/2024 was published in the Official Gazette. This law converted, with some amendments, Decree-Law No. 131 of September 16, 2024, which contained urgent measures to comply with European Union obligations and to close various infringement procedures opened against Italy.
For those in the environmental sector, Article 14-bis matters most.
Paragraph 7 (recovery of critical raw materials from WEEE): states that "pre-collection storage and transport operations carried out by the distributor or those acting on his behalf do not require registration with the National Register of Environmental Managers" (Article 212 of Legislative Decree 152/2006).
Paragraph 10 repeals the regulations contained in Ministerial Decrees March 8, 2010 No. 65 and May 31, 2016 No. 121.
As a result, category 3-bis of the Roll of Environmental Managers (dedicated to distributors and installers of EEE and transporters of WEEE on their behalf) is deleted.
The Register is therefore proceeding ex officio to cancel all registrations in category 3-bis as of November 15, 2024.
If a company is also registered in other categories, those remain valid and active.
